Location

The valley of Benasque is located in Aragon, North of the province of Huesca, in the heart of the Pyrenees. It is the most eastern valley of the province, whose capital, Huesca, is 145 kilometres far.

It belongs to county Ribagorza in which the rivers Esera and Noguera ribagorzana are ideal to practice rafting, canoeing or hidrospeed.

The majority of the villages in the county have preserved their own local language, way of life, feasts and roots, allowing visitors to discover the landscapes as well as the way of living and the personality of their people.

This valley is circled by the greatest number of mountains higher than 3.000m in all the Pyrenees. Among them, the most famous one is the Aneto (3404m), a must for any advanced hiker.

It is a very interesting geological region, featuring more than 13 glaciers and firns, 95 lakes and a number of waterfalls. All this, along with its varied wildlife, lead to the creation of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park in 1994.
